Architectural and Project Management
Hamilton Architects provide a multi-disciplinary design-led service for each client which delivers modern, aesthetically pleasing buildings, whether that is for residential, sports or commercial designs. We pride ourselves on our consultative design approach and guarantee the most appropriate team of consultants to lead and manage your project to a successful conclusion.
Feasibility Studies and Option Appraisals
By working in partnership with clients, stakeholders and end-users we deliver studies and appraisals which enable clients to make fully informed decisions about their proposed project, ultimately realising the potential of buildings/sites and giving them new long-term sustainable uses.
As chartered award-winning architects we have over 20 years’ experience working in the conservation sector, breathing new life into old buildings to provide new sustainable facilities. We employ Conservation Architects and a RIBA accredited Specialist Conservation Architect with the knowledge and understanding of best practice in conservation and historic building repair techniques.
Sustainable Building Design
Hamilton Architects, with ISO14001 certification and membership of the Green Register, provide specialist advice on the integration of environmentally friendly technologies into all our building designs. We have considerable experience in the implementation of BREEAM assessments and Passive House Design. The Passive House philosophy is now being applied to other building types to benefit from low energy running costs. One of our projects, The Environmental Skills Centre, won Sustainable Ireland’s ‘Sustainability Building Project of the Year 2011’ and achieved the target BREEAM of Excellent.
Hamilton Architects provides a master planning design service across all our project sectors, including sports, residential and commercial architecture, from large-scale urban designs to more detailed individual sites. We take account of local policy, engage with stakeholders and prepare concepts to deliver masterplans which reflect best practice and represent the best balance between benefits, costs and deliverability. Each master plan provides a structured approach to creating a clear and consistent framework and is a prerequisite to exercising future development and regeneration plans.
Design Quality Indicator (DQI)
DQI empowers stakeholders by enabling every aspect of design quality to be assessed at each stage of the construction process, from inception to post occupancy analysis. It can also contribute to your building’s BREEAM rating. Our in-house DQI Facilitator can work on our own projects or provide a standalone service to other design and construction teams. One of our projects, The Crescent Arts Centre, has been used as a case study for DQI by the Construction Industry Council.
Building Information Modelling (BIM)
BIM technologies, processes and collaborative behaviours provide more efficient ways of working at all stages of the project life cycle. As one of Northern Ireland’s top architecture firms, we are committed to best practice and have the hardware, software and skilled staff to provide BIM on projects like, for example, Northern Ireland’s new National Football Stadium and the award-winning refurbishment of Parliament Buildings.
The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 offers people with disabilities the same rights of access and enjoyment of property as the rest of society. Our specialist in-house Accessibility Auditor can carry out audits of existing buildings and make recommendations with associated costs for remedial measures which meet or exceed DDA standards. Our commitment to this benchmark is evident by eight of our design projects, including listed buildings, being awarded the William Keown Trust Prestige Access Awards.
Our in-house Principal Designers ensure that each project is designed, built and maintained with Health and Safety in mind in line with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and other regulations and standards. Hamilton Architects is BS OHSAS 18001 certified, which is the internationally recognised standard for occupational health and safety management systems.
